Brisbane has a great ferry system which is free of charge stopping off at all the major attractions, we headed for South Bank.
Australia's only beach in the middle of the city, Streets Beach is one of South Bank's most popular attractions. A unique, man-made swimming beach, Streets Beach overlooks the brilliant Brisbane River and central business district. We spent the day at Streets Beach which has a sparkling-clean, crystal-clear lagoon with white-sand beaches, palm trees, pebbled creeks and shady shallows surrounded by subtropical trees and exotic plantings, a perfect environment to cool down on a hot summers day.
After cooking dinner and enjoying a few drinks at happy hour we headed for a relaxing evening which gave me an opportunity to update my blog!
I was surprised it was only at this point in our trip where we witnessed the three guys in our room taking drugs and we were glad they changed their mind and finally headed out at midnight!
Day 2 - Getting out of the city
Today was the day we met up with Sophie who we had spent Christmas with in Siem Reap. Sophie lives 45minutes from the centre of Brisbane and lives in a beautiful house. We made the most of her washing machine and swimming pool before we sat down for a delicious roast dinner with her parents. We were even able to feed Joufflu and Gustave her pet alpacas!! Thank you so much Sophie for having us :)
Australia Zoo
I woke up early very excited for the day ahead of me, visiting Australia Zoo, the home to the crocodile hunter! I was definitely like a child at Christmas... I got to cuddle a koala and feed the kangaroos that had both been on the top of my bucket list whilst travelling the up the East Coast of Australia. At noon in the Crocoseum we joined the wildlife warriors show where we learnt about the incredible world of giant snakes, colourful soaring birds and the prehistoric legends, the big salt water Crocodile! A day I will never forget!
