Te Papa museum Wellington contains historical aspects of Maori as well as recent 20th Century history. The Museum leaves you with a sense of how much change New Zealand has gone through in a very brief period of time. Being able to go back in time through these exhibits is a valuable thing to do for anyone interested in Maori culture. There was also an excellent exhibition on Gallipoli the scale of our war. The exhibition tells the story of the Gallipoli campaign in World War I through the eyes and words of eight ordinary New Zealanders who found themselves in extraordinary circumstances.
Events have been captured and frozen in a moment of time on a monumental scale – 2.4 times human size. Cutting-edge technology was used to create 3-D maps, projections, miniatures, models, dioramas, and interactive experiences to bring the story to life. The exhibition is a must see if you are visiting Wellington and is probably the best exhibition I have ever seen and it is free to visit!
I am looking forward to visiting Wellington again after touring the South Island.
