Got up early this morning to take some spanish lessons at a local school. It was $6 an hour for one on one tuition, such a bargain considering Spanish classes at home are about $40 an hour for private tutoring. Unfortunately my teacher couldn't speak much english at all, so I had to look up phrases in a dictionary every two minutes. It was good to be forced to speak the language though and im definitely picking it up quickly.
After that I walked back to our hostel to meet the others to do our canyoning and zip line trip. When we arrived to do it, the guide was gone and wouldn't be back til 5pm - what a doucher! We spent a long time organising the canyoning only to find out he'd forgotten all about us! There is very little communication and organisation here, and everyone seems to be so relaxed that nothing ever ends up getting done!
We met up with Mario instead and boarded a chiva (big colourful semi enclosed truck that plays terrible Latino music like pitbull full boar while it cruises around Baños disturbing the peace) and headed for the number one attraction in Baños - la ruta de cascadas or the road of waterfalls. There were loads of huge waterfalls, all bar one you could see from the comforts of our obnoxious truck. We had a half hour walk to the last waterfall and it was by far the best.
For the rest of the afternoon we milled around talking s*** and enjoying our last day in this beautiful little town. We headed out in the evening for a few beers and some good tunes. I really really loved Jack Rock Cafe, they played the best music, like the Editors, Foals, Incubus, John Butler Trio and loads more, so much better than bloody Pitbull. Arriving home at about 2am wasn't ideal, as we had to get up at 5 to catch the bus to Cuenca.
