George and Eva
Yesterday we left "untouched" Patonga, and made our way back to civilisation. Discovered Umina Ocean Beach Caravan Park, the Hidden Gem for a holiday. It is run by NRMA and gives 10% discount to RACV members, but that is not all. All facilities are very high quality, new, or well maintained. It beats many timeshare and 5 star resorts with so many activities for young and old, including pool and spa, jumping pillows for the kids, a waterpark where fountains spurt out at you from all directions, as well as electric bikes for hire. Situated on a massive piece of land near the town centre and shopping and entertainment precinct, as well as beach and wildlife, this place has it all.
Our site is just in from the surf beach, so many long walks along the pristine sands. Last night fell asleep to the sounds of waves breaking on the beach. After the TV turned off, that is. (Yes, George got it tuned, and fell asleep watching as usual.)
Went for a shopping trip to replenish supplies, then ventured out on the bike for a browse of the nearby towns. Easy ride, and nice windy but flat roads with a lot to see and not much distances between towns. Loved every minute here. We checked out all the neighbouring beaches, including Copacabana, Avoca Beach, and Terrigal.
Copacabana was a wild surf beach, very windy, and not much to see or do (I wondered if this place predates Barry Manilow?) Avoca Beach was much more civilised, and evoked memories of Sorrento. Then we moved on to Terrigal - Sorrento, eat your heart out! This is real yuppie heaven, with the strip crowded with cafes and restaurants, big market umbrellas, interspersed between palm trees, boutiques, ice cream parlours etc.
GeorgeY's Bit
On the way back I stopped with the bike and took a picture of the school just to keep in touch with the Education Revolution.
The weather on TV does not apply here, as they all forecast cold and rain. Did not seem to find its way here. So far it is absolute bliss, way better than the previous spot.
