Left Canberra yesterday on a grey and dreary morning. Well, we had had three bright sunny days, and this weather is not so bad for driving. Stopped in at Golbourn and said hello to "the big merino". I wonder how many "big" things we will see on our travels.

The highway to Sydney is quite impressive, sweeping across deep valleys and gorges, with small creeks and rivers at their base. There are areas of "road works" here and there, which were initially quite annoying. However when we drove through the bits that hadn't been fixed recently, we were thinking, "Bring on the roadworks!"

Arrived in Sydney and met up with George's aunt, then went out to dinner with one of his cousins. We thought the weekend would be a good time to catch up with everyone, but it seems most of them are already busy with other things. Oh well, that's the risk you take when you are traveling without a plan.

We found a caravan park in Rockdale, which is fairly close to most of George's family, and also quite close to Brighton le-sands. So we thought we'd get up early, give the motor bike a run, and have a coffee on the beach. Foiled again! Woke up to pouring rain and another grey day. Not sure how long we will stay in Sydney ....
