The Crazy Adventures of Gemma Jean
Hey guys!
So good to keep hearing from you all via e-mail and my message board! Missing you all loads!
Right, so now I'm in Huraz. It's nearly 4000 meters above sea level and we had to access it by mountain roads. Apart from all out shampoo/face washes exploding some of the group have come down with a bit of altitude sickness. Not to worry though I'm ok, apparently I have enough air in my lungs to keep me from falling to the altitude! Nothing to go with the amount I use them to talk or anything!!
Although we're all a bit groggy its beautiful here. I would put on some more photos now but the computer I'm on is so old that I'm impressed to be able to use the internet, downloading photos will be far too ambitious.
Over the next few days we're going to be visiting some rather famous ruins in Peru, we'll be then journying to Lima, the capital, yeah! In Lima we'll be picking up 6 more people, 3 boys and 4 girls! All the ladies in the group are getting a bit excited in anticipation of the 'fresh blood' so we'll have to see about that one! Next will be sandboarding and spending the night in the desert in just a sleeping bag before taking a flight over the Nazcar lines on our way to Cuzco (party capital of South America)! Phew, that will keep me busy! It's from Cuzco that we begin the 4 day trek to Machu Picchu so I better start searching for my thermals!
It's all go go for the next three weeks but I'll e-mail again when in Lima or Cuzco if I can't before. The group I'm with are still fantastic and I'm still bunking with Caroline. We've spent so much time together that she's noticed all my OCD's when it comes to organising my things and likes to call it my 'admin'. She also thinks it's hilarious to mimic me with a Mr Bean voice when I'm talking about the security of the laundary service. It keeps things fun though and I know she loves it really.
Oh, I had my first larium hallucination last night! It's not as good as your toilet one Nic but I saw all the lads in my group at the foot of my bed and panicked as I thought I had to load the truck with my bag and hadn't packed it yet. Fortunatly with a bit of blinking they dissapeared and I managed to get back to my restful sleep. Everyone has been having wierd dreams so it makes good conversation in the morning to compare.
Ok chicks and lads, I'll be off now but I'll be in touch soon.
Hasta luago
