Congo Bongo Jungle House, Manzanillo Beach.

I seem to be a magnet for every creepy crawly and creature in Costa Rica! The morning began with me putting on my sunglasses only to find a bright yellow spider on the inside of the lenses! Thankfully it was only about half a centimeter in size but not really what you want caught in your eyelashes. Next, I went to put on my bather bottoms and there was an enormous cricket with great long antlers in there.... OMG!!!!!!!!!!

Finally, I was sitting checking emails at about 11pm. Adam and the kids were asleep and I was by myself. It can be a little unnerving at night as the living area is completely open to the jungle. A huge creature flew in and got into a panic, crashing into the light fittings, knocking stuff off the table and sink and desperately trying to perch on the rafters but it was too big. By this stage I was hiding under the table screaming, still not knowing what it was. Adam of course was still slumbering fitfully. Turns out it was a massive spectalced owl that had lost its way. Managed to rouse Adam at long last and he got to see this magnificent bird with a wing span of about half a meter finally find its way out under the eaves. It took my poor heart about an hour to recover.

I think I`ve had more than enough wildlife for one day!
