The next day straight away we packed up and left for Lican Ray a small lake town sort of like Otemata where Toto's parents lake house was which is about an hour drive from Temuco, because I travelled down at night I didn't get to see much. It amazed me how much the south of Chile looks like home green fields, forests and lakes for the next 2 days we drank pretty much all day played poker and listened to music. It was nice just to chill out for a while and settle in a bit while I was still adjusting but fell into the time change finally by the second night. The house is literally right next to the lake you walk 2m off the deck and you would be in the lake it was amazing.
On the third day the guys decided to show me some more of the surroundings and we went driving around the little towns most of them Toto didn't even know so it was awesome for them to experience something new with them. We went to a lake which used to be farm land there are trees literally coming up out of the lake which made for some great pictures, as it was getting later in the day we kept driving along to a town with a waterfall in the side of the hill that surrounded the small town, we paid 1000 pesos about $2 NZ each to climb the hill to get a closer look at the waterfall the hill was steep as hell and I couldn't imagine getting up there when I was unfit, we got to the waterfall after climbing up some of the worst tracks and homemade ladders like what you see in the jungle movies was pretty cool but being later in the day and starting to get dark it was a little scary not knowing if it would hold me. The view from the hill and the water fall were both beautiful but I couldn't get a lot of photos because it was too dark but it was still an awesome experience. The way back down was worse than the way up it was now really dark and we had to use the lights on our phones to navigate back down the hill which was a bit sketchy the paths were mostly designed for climbing up and weren't exactly the easiest to get down especially in the dark, once we got back to the trucks we started the drive home we made it to the top of the hill that separated the two valleys and we decided to stop we got out of the trucks and turned all the lights off and all you could see was stars, it was like being at home when you get up to get the cows in in the mornings and all you see is stars, the guys I was with have lived in the city for all their lives and had never seen stars like this it was awesome to see the look on their faces as we spotted a few shooting stars as seeing stars like that was something I took for granted living in the country so it was cool for them to see something new as well as me.
The next day we cleaned and packed up ready to head back to Temuco we stopped for and awesome lunch in a town just outside of Lican Ray they made massive burgers and I had a lamb burger the guys had to help me order but it was nice to sit outside and have a lunch at a restaurant with the guys.
