So after a 7 hour bus ride on a cramped bus (which I was told was only 4 hrs) I had made it to Arequipa my first destination in Peru, and I was greeted to an awesome sunset out of my hostel dorm window, which was an awesome end to a very long day of sitting on the bus. I went out onto the main strip which was right at our front door; I finally made a good choice with my hostels!!! Well.....after standing at the bus station for around a hour looking clueless I managed to find someone I could sort of understand and they helped me onto a bus I handed over my passport the lady took the number and I sat down and filled out the immigration form. A girl asked if she could sit next to me and I lent her my pen, I tried talking to her with what little Spanish I knew but she talked so fast I could barely even make out one word in the sentence little...

I spent 3 days in the city of Arica, the border town between Chile and Peru, it was probably a day too long but it was nice to have a little time just to chill out and not do much at all. After a extermely long 17hr bus ride which was only made better by the fact I actually got some decent sleep about 7hrs worth, I got off the bus grabbed my gear and headed for the taxi to take me to the hostel after a bit of batering with the driver on the price of the ride (since I was a foreigner he decided to charge me 5 times the price) he agreed to take the correct price I was told by the hostel and I got in. I was plesently surprised at the town I was told...

After around 7hrs on the bus from La Serena Antofagasta marked the mid way point of the bus trip and allowed me to stretch my legs and getting a bite to eat before getting back on the bus for the next leg thank god its a night bus and I can sleep through most of it!! Only 10hrs to go....
