THURSDAY 1ST FEBRUARY 2007
got to Hueand the next day hired push bikes to check out the town. Rode to the citadel which is an imperial enclosure - a walled area surrounded by a moat. The area around the walls was lovely & a really nice ride. Inside the walls was equally as lovely but i think was perhaps not worth the entrance fee - a definite one for the older or more cultured generations i think lol. Most of the land is now used for farming and agriclture and the few remaining buildings have seen better days. After this we rode through the countryside to reach the tomb of Tu Duc. We were very unimpressed with this. While the grounds were pleasant enough it literally was just a concrete tomb - again more for the elder of history fanatics. Generally a disappointment but the bike ride made it worthwhile as we got to see the real "non-touristy" Hue.
