Hi All! Just a quick message to start my blog off and to say that we have arrived safe and sound in Bangkok! Our 11 hour flight wasn't too bad although the food was horrible Mike! We felt quite bewildered and it felt really surreal to be in this far away land. As soon as we arrived at the Khao San Road, we were smacked in the face with the heat, sounds, smells and sights of Bangkok and we all felt very disorientated. After checking into our room, we found Ben and Lucy (Kat's sister and her boyfriend) who were also in our hotel and it was so nice to be welcomed by them. Theyve already been travelling south east asia for 5 weeks and seem to be experts! We went out for a nice thai meal (slightly better than the Thai Green Curry I had in Croydon on friday!) and drinks with them before getting some rest. Yesterday was when Kat, Nush and I headed out and did the sights of Bangkok. It started as per usual with the hundreds of Tuk Tuk drivers offering us cheap lifts everywhere and after saying no to one and telling him I would find him in an hour, he caught up with us later in the day and didn't seem too happy! We visited many a temple (pictures to come but I left my camera at the hotel!) and took a ride on the river. It was so hot and humid that we went and spent the afternoon by the pool at our hostel...not very cultural I know! It's only my second day here and already Bangkok is a bit too much for me, theres always so much going on you just cant escape at all! The Thai's seem to be very friendly people though, as long as you avoid the ones after your money. Have just been bartering with some people on the Khao San Road which has been fun but looking forward to heading on to Cambodia tomorrow (although we're a little anxious as there are quite a few scams to watch out for on the way there!). Will update in a few days time and post some pics.
