Just a quick one about Singapore. Arrived there by bus from Kuala Lumpur and met a couple of guys, Dan and Rob and ended up spending the next 3 days travelling Singapore with them. After a failed attempt at finding cheap accommodation in the centre of town, we moved further out and managed to find somewhere. Was easy to get around town though as Singapore has the most efficient underground ever! Our first afternoon was spent trying to sort out on-going flights to Australia. I actually wanted to change mine and go to Indonesia for a few weeks as it was so close, but unfortunately Qantas were useless and so I couldn't change my flight. We consoled ourselves with a slap up curry in the cleanest Little India I've ever seen!

The next day we spent wandering the main shopping centre of Singapore, Orchard Road. It gets pretty overwhelming as there's so much of it! Loads of huge shopping malls, each 7 stories high packed full of shops, both designer and cheap. We got pretty sick of it and so headed to the famous Raffles hotel to have a look. Unfortunately our budget couldn't accommodate the 12quid singapore sling in the bar and so we headed home to have a coke instead! Being a friday night, we donned our shirts and headed into the bar scene which was awesome! So much variety and it was all really classy. Being Singapore though it was very expensive and we ended up in Hooters just cause it was the cheapest place for a beer at 3.30 for a bottle!

The weather the following day was great and so we headed to the beaches of Sentosa island like everyone else in the city! Was wierd cause I wasn't expecting beaches in Singapore but it was nice to relax for a day. Was so packed though we moved on and went to see the old British fort used during the second world war. That night Dan headed off for Australia and Rob and I ate at some of the street vendors near our place. The food in Singapore is awesome and there's so much of it everywhere!

I decided to soak up some history and spent my final day in Singapore (and South East Asia) looking around the national museum which was really interesting. I had to catch a flight to Australia later that evening but managed to squeeze in a trip to the zoo as well which was amazing. So many exotic animals and they have an open concept so nothing is caged, just roaming behind fences and moats. The white bengal tigers were awesome as well as the 3 metre long kommodo dragon!

Singapore was definately my favorite city in South East asia and I would seriously consider living and working there. The atmosphere is great and it's so clean and efficient, as well as being steeped in history and culture. I was sad to be leaving South East Asia but Singapore was a great place to finish the asian leg of my journey!
