I woke up early as wanted to make the most of my bike rental. I showered and got the bike about 9 o'clock. When I hired it, I was lucky enough to get a helmet that fit, as well as a paddle saddle. It was actually cold this morning, wearing shorts and a vest I thought after a while on the bike and once the sun is up in the sky I would warm up. I thought I would start by cycling to the Noosa National Park observation look out up a massive hill. I felt alright the first 20 minutes. Powering down the road on my bike. Let's just say when it was time to go up hill, I lost my energy very quickly. I'm not going to lie... Yes I did have to walk up my bike some (most) of the way... Swearing, red, and my heart thumping, I finally got to the top. Rested my bike down and looked out over the beaches, sand land, and national park. It was nice and cool at the top with a breeze. It didn't take long for me to recover. I talked to a couple who were originally from Essex. They had drove up I'm not sure how but they looked out of breath...! I was really looking forward to the next part. Cycling down... Well it didn't need any peddling, I flew down to the bottom. I had to have my hand on the back brake most of the way... I was going so fast I was worried I would go flying over the handle bars. With a head my size, I would fly straight over. I beat a couple of cars down. I think it might have been because I was all over the road.
I was feeling pretty tired already, but the next part of my journey was down hill to the beach. I first went past all the shops on Hastings Street, and headed to the Noosa Woodlands. I cycled around looking at the views. It was really flat so it was ok. Then rode up the beach along the sand, where the waves washed up over the tires. Not sure I was meant to, but no one told me off! I thought I would go and get some breakfast, I locked the bike and found a nice restaurant. Home made bake beans, poached egg and strawberry ice cream milkshake! I made sure I had a seat in the sun, I don't have that much time left before going home to the UK I need to make sure I'm as tanned as possible! Once I finished my food, which didn't take long, I headed straight for the while sandy beach. Enjoyed sunbathing for a couple of hours before going into the water.
It took me a while to get my head and shoulder under the water, it was pretty cold, but as soon as a big wave came along and knocked me off my feet I didn't really have much choice. I was watched people on the sand and didn't see it coming. I went for a swim keeping in between the red and yellow flags! I only stayed in the water 30 minutes and laid back in the sun to dry off.
My next stop was sunshine beach that was on the other side of the national park. I would have to cycle back passed the hostel and down to the beach. This time the cycle wasn't as bad, and when I arrived at the beach it was a lot more windy, and hardly anyone on the beach sunbathing. I sat and chilled watches the waves. It was getting on now, and would start to get dark soon. I didn't have lights so I needed to head back. Grabbed some stuff for dinner that I could just chuck in the micro wave and cycled back to the hostel. It was a really good day. After all the ice creams I've been eating, it was time I did some real exersize.
I showered, used the free wifi and just chatted with some of the guys from the hostel. I cooked my Thai curry and rice. Most of the people from the hostel went for this $5 meal deal down in the town, I didn't really fancy it.. Plus i'd just eaten. There was only 3 of us left, and they wanted to watch a movie. I fancied just chilling, so I said I would stay and watch it. AUSTRALIA was the movie that we watched, I guess it would a good choice considering where we are.. I have seen it before, but thought it was s***. But after watching it for the second time, and knowing a bit more about what the film was about it was actually good, and make sense! A lot of the guys that had gone for the meal caught the end of the film.
I have really enjoyed Noosa, I wasn't going to come here originally. Really glad I did. However short and sweet. I'm off to Briabane tomorrow. My deadline to be in Sydney is slowly approaching. Can't mess about! Looking forward to the city! Plus I want to do a bit of shopping!! Noosa = fantastic!
