It was such a long drive from France to Switzerland. We arrived at camp at 8ish, put our tents up ate dinner and went to sleep. The drive through Switzerland was so beautiful - snow cap mountains, crystal clear waters, rolling mountainous surroundings - ahh a breath of fresh air literally; Rae our guide told us so many interesting facts about the History of the Swiss people - like how they put dynamite around the mountain tunnels in case they come under attack they blow the tunnels up and no one can get in.
The next morning at about 3 am we woke to screams of terror - all we could hear was a frantic scratching and animal noises - shan and I jumped into the middle of our tent and held tightly until we could work out wot was going on - a mountain cat had come down to camp and decided to try and eat some people from our group. Three girls were attacked! We could not get back to sleep and we had to wake up at 5 am to go to the Jungfrau.
The travel up to the Jungfrau was so gorgeous, so many natural wonders - i felt like i was in a scene from the sound of music! We got to the top and it was so freakin cold 3oC we came from 35oC heat. There was snow!!!! I was so excited the view was stunning, we were on top of Europe. We played like kids - this was my first time seeing snow.
On the way down Shan and I decided to walk down from the town on top of Lauterbrunnen. It was so tempting to run out and belt out "the Hills are alive with the sound of music" - it was totally amazing - green grass, wild flowers, little hut houses scattered through the mountains, friendly little farmers. It took about 1hr to get back down, after the walk we went along the rapids - awsome I wish i had a boat. Every part of Lauterbrunnen was so enchanting totally mindblowing. After our fantastic day in nature we kicked back with a few coldies chilled in the rapids - did i mention that the tap water taste like evian water..
The waterfall near the campsite was so enchanting at night; it seemed, because of the cold, that the waterfall had actually turned into snow flakes...
