Avignon was a one day stop over on our way to Barcelona. Avignon is famous for the Palace of the Popes in the 14 century Pope Clement V and his court fled politician turmoil in Rome. The city is encircled by a huge wall which enabled the town not to be flooded the buildings have a roman feel quiet and simple! We went for an evening walk and watched the sunset over the old city totally amazing. After that we entertained ourselves in the plaza with dinner and watching the frenchies step in dog s***.
