Paris was absolutely stunning! We arrived by bus at about 6ish, set up camp and had dinner before heading out to check out the city at night. We started at Montmarte - Bohemian lifestyle attracted artists and writers in the 19 century. To start off we went to Basilique du Sacre Coeur (Basilica of the sacred heart) from here you could see all of Paris it was amazing - warm summer nite people chilling watching the sunset over the city. Next we drove past the Moulin Rouge Brad (MR Bus driver) stopped the bus in the middle of the road so we could take pictures out of the skylight. We drove past the old Opera House, called Opera Garnier - built in 1860 by Charles Garnier a stunning piece of architecture the Phantom of the Opera was based on this place. From there we drove to the Louvre - originally built as a fortress in the 1200, rebuilt in the 16 century as a royal palace, in 1793 became a public museum. This museum holds Leonardo De Vinci's Mona Lisa. Across from the Louvre was the arc which was built for Napoleon and Josephines wedding. By the time we reached the La Madeline it was dark and the city was lit up with old city lights. It was so romantic!! La Madeline was built as a catholic church but built in a Greek style. It runs north of the Palace De La Concord. Then we went on to the De La Concord which is at the centre of four landmarks - Arc De Triumph, La Madeline, the Louvre and the Palais Bourbon. Brad orientated us with his crazy driving around the Arc De Triumph - this thing was massive - the worlds largest roundabout consisting of 12 avenues there is an average of 1 accident every 8 minutes. The Arc has their own police, which is totally understandable.

The next day Shan and I headed off on foot for Shan and Gabs wild parisian adventure - Notre dame Cathedral - Stunning made me quite teary eyed, the interior was a lovely gothic façade, each arch way at the entrance had little statues each with an individual look. Inside the stain glass windows were so beautiful, so many vibrant colours. Latin Quarters - This area is known as the Quartier Latin because until the revolution, all communication between students and their professors took place here in Latin. The buildings were so gothic and old; the streets were lined with cafes and shops. After the Latin Quarter we went back to La Madeline, The Louvre, and the Concord to take piccies and embrace the beauty of Paris. Champs Elysees - We decided to do the walk down the Champs Elysees, where thousands of troops have marched in times of war, where the Nazis marched their victory in taking Paris! This is now a vibrant shopping street kind of like Oxford Street but grander with bars, shops, cafes, and designer clothing. Shan and I bumped into this man who claimed to be a Chinese tourist trying to purchase some LV wallets but they would not let him purchase anything coz he could not understand what they were talking about. So he asked us if we would buy them for him, being so kind we agreed to buy it for him, he gave us 900 euro and told us to buy 2 wallets and two key holders (showing us a photo of them a bit suss), we went in and looked around a bit and felt really uncomfortable!! We enquired about some products and the lady asked how we will be paying as soon as we said cash she said we dont accept cash because doggie Chinese men come in and buy stuff to rip off and make fakes. I was so embarrassed we nearly became apart of a corrupt scam! We returned the money to the man and all of a sudden a gang of 5 men came out of nowhere - we were like OOHH s*** the man kept insisting we go with him and get the wallets from somewhere else - we brushed him off and walked frantically away. b****** nearly destroyed my romantic fascination with Paris.

We went to regroup our composure - wot better place than the Eiffel Tower, we had a little siesta it was an amazing sight - lying on the grass in the sun staring at the tower and the hordes of tourist. Before dinner we strolled up to the Palais de Chaillot, such an amazing view Eiffel Tower with Paris behind it.

For Dinner we had a campaign picnic, the main food was French cheese and snails escargots it was alright but never again! After dinner we took a river cruse around Paris on the Seine River - it was amazing so many people just hanging out at the river and socialising, eating, and drinking.
