Another early wake up on this trip, this time it was to go quad biking. All of the group besides one was coming along. The mini bus trip took just over an hour to get out to the country side. Once there we had a quick introduction on how to drive a quad bike and then it was time for a quick practice. The driving part was fine for me but a few people struggled.
Once on the bikes we drove down small country roads to the salt mine. Here we walked down into the mines of water with salt. You could taste the salt in the stream of water. We went for a walk around the mines and took some photos before heading back on the bikes towards an inca site. On the way we drove through a small town... I hoped no cars were coming the other way. We arrived at the inca site Royon and took some photos. It looked like a stadium but apparently it was terraces used for farming.
Once back in cusco, as a group we went back to Jack's for some food. After this we went to the inca museum to learn about the inca period and the things we will see on the inca trail.
Then it was time for some more shopping and then a pisco or two afterwards at the pub. I tried the cinnamon pisco - very nice!
