We have finally arrived in Belem after two horrendously long days on the truck. 'The truck', you say, 'I thought you were heading out on a public bus'. Well, so did I. I headed back to the hotel for our BBQ dinner and found out that our driver had been rushed off to a clinic as he had chest pains. They eventually diagnosed indigestion or food poisoning and sent him home but he wasn't too good so we were told we had an extra day in this lovely town to relax to give Euan some time to recover. This beach lifestyle is going to be hard to say goodbye to tomorrow, when we start our trip inland. We have spent 2.5 days here chilling out with nothing more to do than sleep, read and swim, either by the pool or down at the beach. I got to go swimming in the ocean with dolphins today. What a way to start the day. We had been told this area is known for dolphins and you could go down to the main beach and organise a boat trip but I didn't want to pay out money on the off chance you would see them, plus I have seen them before. Had a relaxing day and half here at Olinda. It was only about 4.5hr drive from Maceio which was nice. The truck was parked near a square so we made lunch in the square before walking over to our hotel which is lovely. Nice pool to relax by and decent air con in the room.
