Hello, fran again. So the day after we went to the monks and got all relaxed and in the zone, we went to a zip wire place, which is one of the most unrelaxing things you could do. The centre was really high up in the mountains and the zip wire platforms were attached to huge trees from which you could see the mist swirling around the mountains and all the forests, it was very scenic.
When we got there they kitted us out. Because it was raining loads they gave us these poncho raincoats and then put the harness and stuff over the top of that, it looks hilarious, as you will see from the photos. I was really nervous but the first platform wasn't too high, so i didn't refuse to go (i thought i might) and it turned out to be really fun. There were 24 platforms in all and 3 downward drops, where they drop you onto the next platform. The platforms started to get really high after the first couple but you felt really safe because you were always clipped onto something. Anna kept on nearly not making it to the platform and was dangling there in mid air, waiting for people to pull her on.
On one of the platforms they attached the rope to your back so you couldn't hold onto anything and had your hands free, so it felt like you were flying, so fun! I was having a great time until i saw the drop on the last platform, which was soooo high and then i started to feel really sick. I told them to lower me down SLOWLY, they did and i started to think 'this is ok', then they told me to unclip to rope (on the drops you had to unclip one of the ropes when you were near the bottom) and i looked down and still thought that i was really high up, but then i unclipped the rope like they said and went literally plummetting towards the ground. I thought i was going to DIE and that i'd unclipped the wrong rope, but it turned out they were just playing what they thought was a really funny joke. I got down to the ground and couldn't breathe and then i started crying, it was quite embarrassing. It was ok though because they came and apologised to me, i don't think they realised how scared i was.
Part of the package included a visit to the hot springs, which were really not very impressive. They looked like puddles of hot water which stank of egg! We were planning on doing a seperate day trip just to see them and we were so glad that we didn't, it would have been the mangroves all over again!
We're now in Bangkok, which as you already know we are not huge fans of. Today we went to visit the Grand Palace which was pretty impressive but loads of the temples were closed which was quite dissapointing. Tomorrow we're going to visit the floating market and explore Koh San Rd.
