I drove Anthony to Chichester so he could catch the bus to Goodwood before I did a bit of random driving around to check out the area.
I drove through some farms and over to the local waterways where I came across Shore Road around the corner from Bosham. This road was covered with seaweed as the water comes over the road at high tide. I figured that meant I was really driving in the bay.
I then set off for West Wittering - on the beach, the next place up from where we were staying. The cost to park at the beach was dearer than Manly, so I went grocery shopping for dinner instead.
As it was a beautiful sunny day (at last) I also went for a walk to the beach about 5 minutes from where we were staying. I'd done a couple of loads of washing first which was spread out in the sun over the outdoor furniture.
When I got to the beach I was really excited to see that the tide was coming in and therefore the little bit of sand was now underwater and only the pebbles were left (!!). I had foolishly brought my book in anticipation of relaxing at the beach with a read. There is no public area, just walkways between houses that front the pebble beach for as far as the eye can see. There is nowhere to walk or sit unless you want to relax on the pebbles. I went home.
Anthony came home and we sat outside in the sun while dinner simmered on the stove. All the washing was dry and folded and we were ready for the next leg.
The television was full of reports of the British referendum results - the decision to exit the European Union. It seemed to me that a lot of people seemed to be blaming foreigners, and by default, the EU for all their woes. It was a close result with only about 2% between the stay and go question. The uncertainty of what will happen next made the pound crash along with the stock market and the Aussie dollar too. Looks like I'll be working for a bit longer!
