Macca's for breakfast versus hotel charge of $35 each. Guess which option we chose? We farewelled Jenny and Peter and took off for Chichester.
We arrived at the Goodwood Festival of Speed parking area (aka muddy field) and traipsed about 2 kms to the entrance. Once inside we viewed a few fancy nancy cars with our favourite being the Aston Martin.
We walked around looking at a whole range of car "things" until I finally found a table and chair strategically placed on the lawn outside Goodwood House, near the "lawn bar" and a jazz band. I relaxed and waited here while Anthony checked out the car auction.
Luckily the auction is tomorrow and the catalogue was $100, so Anthony returned empty handed. However, that means he can go tomorrow when I'm not around!
Next stop was a motor bike display where the bike was positioned at the maximum lean angle a rider would hold during a race. Anthony had a go and fell off. It was hilarious and he fell at the exact moment I took a photo - captured him in all his glory!
As the day wore on the mud grew worse. There had been a huge thunderstorm the night before with a months worth of rain falling in one night (which must be a lot in England!). As a consequence the grounds were extremely wet and with all the people traipsing around the walkways, the grass turned into mud. Even the boardwalks ended up covered in slippery mud. It was very slippery everywhere and the return to the car was very precarious, Anthony almost went over, but managed to right himself at the last minute. Unfortunately his back pack swung wildly and his shoulder came off worse for wear.
We finally got back to the car with mud covering our shoes, feet and the bottom of our jeans. Luckily we were on our way to our new home for the next three days which comes with a washing machine!
We are staying in our first Airbnb accommodation at Bracklesham Bay and it is ideal. It is a two bedroom home with all the mod cons. Our host supplied a yummy lemon cake and we sat and drank a cuppa with our feet up watching "Dr Quincy MD"!
Tomorrow sunshine is predicted. Anthony will be off to the car thingy again and I will relax. Maybe I'll walk down to the beach. A lovely pebble beach...
