So...Rome. What can I say? Obviously, me and Anu both fell in love with the city at first sight. It stills stumps just how natural this all feels like we belong here. The cobblestone-sovered streets intertwine with the dark alleys and passageways filled with the local populace, chatting away with no worries of tomorrow, absorbing the wonders of daily life as quietly as we do it loudly. I think half of Rome heard us when we ran into our first national monument. You can't believe the amount of amazing architect you meet just by going out to by some toilet paper, it's like the trash cans of this city have more detail than the house I live in back at home. Despite all this wonderment of the new, I feel like I've come home, in a way. An urban landscape where the old is mixed in with the new is a place where I feel I belong. We saw fountains, palaces, ruins... and people. The people themselves are about as much a work of art as the various pieces of history we saw on our little walk. Speaking of which, we netted about 7 hours of walking on both days, fueled the first half by a crappy pizza (it's bullcrap that all pizzas in Italy are great, this one was about as appetizing as a calzone filled with rotten fish), with the second half fueled by the desire to see EVERYTHING! The other restaurant we tried had great food, from salads to pizzas, with both of us heroes having one and the other. Add a pint of wine and you have two very happy travellers with minds as full of experiences as their stomachs are of great food. I'm pooped, as well as my lovely partner, so I think it's time to wrap this up. Have a nice one, and to all our finnish friends and relatives out there: "Hajotkaa sateeseen ja harmauteen!!! Aamulla kirjauduttiin ulos klo 10.00 aamulla ja käveltiin joku 100m toisen hotellin respaan kirjautumaan sisään. Täässä hotellissa viihdytään sitten seuraavat 6 yötä. Hotellihuone on tosi siisti, oma kylppäri ja yleinen keittiö käytettävissä. Melkein toimiva kahvinkeitin siis löytyy ja aamupala kuuluu hintaan (26€/yö/hlö), mikä on siis tosi simppeli, muroja, mehua, kovaa leipää ja kahvia. Mutta kyllä sillä nälkä jonkun aikaa pysyy pois! Käytiin suihkussa ja lähdettiin tutkimaan roomaa turistikartan kera. Heti kulman takaa löytyi piazza santa maria maggiore, jolla samanniminen kirkko. Kameralle tuli heti käyttöä. Matka jatkui aina iltaan asti, nähtiin useampi piazza ja palatsi ja ihmeteltiin kaunista roomaa. Syömään mentiin pieneen sivukuppilaan jossa mussutettiin surkeat pizzat. Ja muka kaikki syöttölät italiassa on vimpan päälle. Illalla sitten mentiin toiseen paikkaan ja siellä pizza oli ok, jori söi sen ja itse otin salaatin. Viini oli halpaa ja hyvää. Taidetaan vaihtaa ruokaympyrään perunan ja leivän paikalle viini.
