After the experiece of Phuket it was onto the scenic, peace of Phi Phi. Its 2 islands off the coast and they are beautiful. We stayed on the main one after a ferry trip over whee numbnuts here got burnt by forgetting to cream up!! Phi Phi had no roads as such, just huts on the beaches and long boats to get you around. They are great fun but tricky to get in and out when you are sober let alone when you've had a drink! Most if this Island was destroyed in the Tsunami so its being rebuilt and quite a bit remains from that day with some boats still washed up and areas where trees were flattened. Strangely though one of the locals said it cleaned all the beaches and swept away the litter and rubbish that had gathered over the years! Thats good then!! im sure there were more productive was of cleaning there beaches!!
Phi Phi should be called Mozzie Mozzie coz the litlle f*ckers are everywhere and they are happy to eat you alive. We stayed in a beach hut here, 50 meters from the sea! tough eh.. the hut it a hut.. with a bed and a mozzie net.. thats it! and the floorboards were spread out so you could see through them.. and the mozzies could see me!! dohh!!
I stayed at Long Beach and it was really quiet.. everything closed early but the beach was nice and there was coral here so we could snorkel with the fish. Me and Jo took the plunge and when Scuba diving one say which was great fun. the sea was 31 degrees and so clear. Fought off a couple of sharks and squid like you do!! Went one nigth to Moitai the main village in Phi Phi and it very nice and the only lively place here on the beach it had fires going with fire throwers doing tricks and bits.. all very nice and chilled to say the least!!
The best part in Phi Phi was the last day, we hired a long boat to go to the 2nd island, it has 2-3 coves, one of which is where 'the Beach' was filmed.. its amazing, as stunning as it looks on the film except for the hundreds of bloody tourists there to ruin my photos!! did my Leo bit of running into the trees behind etc and the sea was bright blue! i could have stayed all day there but the boat man probably had his dinner ready on the table at home so he took us back to the port for the next ferry onto Krabi.
Ao Nang was the resort we went to here. the sea was so shallow here the ferry had to stop about a mile out and catch a long boat in to shore. Funny thing was Helen fell into the sea getting off and the person behind her did exactly tre same!! Tried a different bit of transport here, a bike with sidecar with about a 2cc engine!! im sure we could have walked quicker than this thing yet the driver was dipping his head as if to get out of the wind!!
Ao Nang is a normal holiday resort, just a beach and some bars and restaurants so didnt really do much here, it rained quite a bit here so made use of the Irish Bar next door to our digs quite often. We dig take a long boat one day to Railay beach which was a lovely little cove which had lots of sexy looking girls on it so i was in my element.. until the rain came mid afternoon and they all b*****ed off.. hows that for luck!! For several days the routine went, beach, food, get drunk.. not exacly cultured but there wasn't that much here to do.. i do know we had an alldayer one day as it was raining but ill have to confess to not rememberring much of it!! By now im getting a little bored of beaches everday so quite glad to be seeing somewhere new!
