My Big Adventure
So our last proper day of the holiday and it began in the usual way with breakfast. Although this morning I found one of the most yummy inventions ever - a Swiss mocha - hot chocolate with a shot of coffee which makes the scrummiest drink!! So after breakfast we headed down the Laugavegur to buy Dunkin donuts for lunch and buy some gifts and souvenirs. Stopping occasionally to look at the street art and the Rainbow houses along the way. We then headed back up the Laugavegur and down to the very cloudy front for a stroll along the front and then back to the hotel for our donuts and our pick up for the whale watching. So we arrived at the harbour and the cloud had lifted and the sun was out. So we boarded our whale watching vessel Andrea and headed out on the harbour is search for whales! Unfortunately they were all playing a very clever game of hide and seek! Fortunately though the white nosed dolphins were not and kept us entertained for most of our time on the water. We probably saw 30 or so dolphins as different points some very close to the boat and others much further away. The northern fulmars also put on a good show skimming the water and gliding through the sky. To add to the wildlife spotting we also saw cormorants or shags and wider ducks. And although there were no whales it was still a worthwhile afternoon. After the whale watching trip we opted to walk back to the hotel instead of getting the coach so we could grab some fish and chips on the way which we did. We then headed one last time back up the Laugavegur via a couple more souvenir shops and back to the hotel to pack up our belongings and get ready for our early start and departure to the airport tomorrow.
