Arriving in Mui Ne it looked beautiful. The sun was shining and we could see the gorgeous blue sea. Huge waves were crashing in. We stayed in a room right on the beach owned by a lovely but slightly crazy woman. We made a beeline for the beach, however as it was so windy we were quickly clarted in sand. We still managed to get in a relaxing afternoon as we found some hammocks hidden from the wind. There was a lot of windsurfing and kite surfing here. The strong winds and big waves made it ideal conditions so there was lots to watch.
The following day we booked a trip to see the sandunes. Being the budget travellers we are, we thought it was best to opt for motorbikes as opposed to the more expensive jeeps as our mode of transport. It was definitely an adrenaline rush if not terrifying at times. The wind made it pretty scary. Although we had drivers the wind was swerving our bikes all over the road. I kept getting sand blown into my eyes so had to keep them shut half the time. We were taken to the Red Canyon. It was amazing. They were sandunes with really red sand. We got to walk up a little stream that took us through them. It was really nice. We then went on to the white sandunes. They were gorgeous. It was quite tough walking up to the top because of the wind and because they were so steep but once at the top we got to sand sledge back down. It was so much fun. Basically we were given a board and we got to throw ourselves headfirst down the sandunes on it. I took a couple of tumbles and managed to get sand everywhere. In fact three days later I'm still finding sand!
Mui Ne was fun and really beautiful. It was definitely worth visiting to see the sandunes.
