Ho Chi Minh City was big, busy and pretty exciting. There was certainly a lot to see. The first day we took a walk around. We saw the Reunification Palace and took a walk through Tao Dan Park. The gardens were beautiful and we got to see lots of people doing their exercises. Once again crossing roads proved challenging, however, I think we have a strategy. Just keep walking, they always swerve us. After all they don't want to damage their bikes! The following day we were booked on a trip. We actually bumped into a couple of friends we met on the slowboat coming into Laos. They had gone through Cambodia first so it was a real surprise to bump into them in Ho Chi Minh City. Our first stop on the trip was in Tay Ninh on the Cambodian border. We visited the Cao Dai Cathedral. The cathedral is the holy See of the Cao Dai religion, the fushion of different religions, propounding the concept of a universal god. The cathedral is incredible. It was so beautiful. We were lucky enough to sit in on a service. There must have been about 250 people participating. It was so colourful and they were all wearing different bright coloured gowns depending on their religion. There was music and praying and it was amazing to watch.

Our next stop was to see the Cu Chi tunnels. These are the tunnels that were dug out by the Vietnamese people during the Vietnam War to move around from trenches and to avoid bombs. We got to see some of the tunnels, they were tiny! Some of them had been resized to "tourist size" so tourists can crawl through them for themselves. They were double the size. It was still very scary though. At parts we were on our hands and knees crawling and it was really dark. The fact that it was underground didn't help either. We also were shown some of the traps used by the guerillas. They were really brutal!

The following day we visited the War Rembrant Museum. It was certainly eye opening. It explained all about the war and had lots of pictures from it. Some pictures were really sad and a bit disturbing. The photos of the agent orange victims in particular were really shocking. We came away from the museum rather depressed.

Ho Chi Minh City was really interesting. During our time there I learnt a lot more abot the war in Vietnam and we savoured our last vietnamese food before heading into Cambodia.
