This is only a quick update to tell of my last week in New Zealand. Our last day in Auckland we finally got some good weather so went up the Sky Tower. It was a really clear day so we could see great views right across Auckland. We also got to see a couple of people do the jump off the tower. After that we took a visit to the Auckland Museum. It was really big and full of interesting things. There was lots on Maouri culture and an interesting bit on volcanoes. However my favourite part was the Maouri Cultural show. We got to see some dancing and they sang a bit too. Later that day we drove back to Lauren's family in Hamilton.
The next day we drove out to Rotorua. This place is full of thermal activity and as a result has many steaming thermal pools. It also makes the place smell of rotton eggs because of the sulphur. Despite this it was still a good day out and amazing to see the water and mud bubbling away.
The following day we visited Taupo. Here we did our skydive. I managed to persuade Lauren to do it with me! It was amazing! So glad I did it. Going up in the tiny plane I was a bit nervous, then when they opened the door it was so cold and windy and I realised I actually had to go out of it! It was such a rush. I did the freefall for just over a minute falling 10,000ft at 200km/hour! We were lucky we did it on such a nice day. There were blue skies and it was really sunny. The view was incredible. The lake was really blue and there was snow on the nearby mountains. Once the parachute was opened I was able to relax and enjoy the view for the next 5,000ft. My parachuter guy made it spin round really fast. It was good fun and I even managed to land on my feet on landing!
Another day we took a trip out to Tauranga to meet up with a friend. The bad weather was back though so couldn't do much else. Now I'm clearing out all my winter clothes and making room for the summer ones. We are off to Fiji tomorrow and I couldn't be more excited! New Zealand has been fantastic but I've taken more than I can handle of the cold. Now I'm looking forward to sunshine, beaches, a bit of diving and a lot of relaxation!
