From Phnom Pehn we took a bus to Sihanoukville, a beach resort along the south coast of Cambodia. We were looking forward to some timeout on the beach. Unfortunately as we arrived the blue skies clouded over. It didn't stop us hitting the beach though! Sihanoukville was not quite what I expected. It was very busy and not as picturesque as I'd hoped it would be. This could be because the weather was not great. We still managed a couple of days subathing despite the clouds and it was certainly nice just to lie out and do nothing. At nightime there are a strip of bars along the beach which come alive. We met up with a couple of friends and had a good time sitting on the beach, chilling out and drinking some buckets.
On our second day on the beach it started to rain mid afternoon. Luckilly a nearby bar was holding a beach party and volleyball tournament which gave us a few hours of entertainment while we took shelter from the rain. The volleyball tournament was entertaining to say the least as some of the teams dressed up. My favourite was the wasters against the stoners. It was hilarious. We only spent 2 days in Sihaoukville as we couldn't guarantee good weather and thought it better to cut a day off Sihanoukville and add it to our time on the Thai islands.
After my recent bad luck with creepy crawlies it didn't surprise me that another incident should arise. A cockroach fell on my head! Luckilly Lauren flicked it off before I was quite aware of the situation so I didn't freak out too much. Eugh!
Despite the disapointment with the weather it was still nice to visit a different part of Cambodia. While we did a lot of sightseeing in the rest of Cambodia it was nice to refresh our batteries as we were both beginning to feel a bit exhausted.
