Finally spending time in a National Park! Have spent last two days walking - to lookouts, aboriginal art, Lawn Hill Creek nature walks and a lot of relaxing at Adels Grove. Leave tomorrow for another night at Gregory Downs and then on to Burketown. Expect little mobile reception over next week or so.

Easy drive to Adels Grove CP (10km from the NP) with most of the 90km sealed. However, shortly after the tar ended and the gravel began, I hit a steer (believed to be a Hereford) head-on. Made a mess of the bonnet and panelling but amazingly there doesn't seem to be any mechanical damage. Have jumped around on the hood, wired the bonnet closed and fingers crossed, the car is mobile. Easy drive to Gregory Downs - less roadkill to manoeuvre around! A perfect riverside camp on the Gregory River capped off an excellent day. Steak, spuds, peas & corn & grilled toms made a great meal ( Kev, you've probably seen steak before so won't include pic). Onto Goodjamulla NP (Lawn Hill) tomorrow for 3 days.

Actually, we are camped at a rest area 60 km past Cloncurry on the way to Gregory Downs. From there 3 days at Lawn Hill NP, staying at Adels Grove. Weather is great now - nights 18c, days 26c. It's a tough life!

Visited the'Age of Dinosaur' exhibition, located 40km south of Winton. The centre was established following the major discovery of dinosaur bones near Winton in 1998. They have named the 3 dinosaurs unearthed so far as Elliot, Banjo and Matilda. To be able to actually touch a fossil dated at 95 to 98 million years old is quite incredible.
