We are now in Phuket after 8days of island hopping :)
We started off by getting the ferry over to the mainland an then a bus to Krabi an another boat to koh lanta. All in all it took about 9hours. Ferry to surathani was packed, literally every backpacker that was left on the island was on this ferry!! Ferry took about 3 hours then a 3 hour bus, then the normal wait came! Only a small 1 hour wait in Krabi then another 2 hour bus ride to take us to the final boat to koh lanta. It was one where the bus goes on the little metal shed is the best way to call it! Took us about 10mins to cross the river, we then drove for another 10mins an got on another boat! So random!
The hotel wasn't too bad, standard 3 bed thing, seemed pretty clean. You could literally walk out of our room onto the beach. Perfect for £6 a night!!
We stayed in koh lanta for 4 nights, pure chillout, no any drinking at all! Bit of a detox! For the four days we had we spent them on the beach topping up our tans! Weather was beautiful! Until the last day when we leaving an it chucked it down.
Our first day we spent diving into the waves (which were huge!) making mermaids out of sand an then burying Sarah to make a Sarmaid! Had dinner in a lovely little bar called koala bar, pizza, garlic bread and chips. Was great, they put A million ways to die in the west on as well while we were eating which was good.
The second day we made a turtle, it wasn't as creative as the mermaid but still looked good.
The third day we didn't make anything, we forgot. Not much to remember out here but we still managed to forget to make something. The place we had dinner was great thought, western owned an all the food was lovely. The whole time we were in koh lanta the mermaid an turtle survived even when the waves came in.
Leaving koh lanta we were due to be picked up at 7 an the boat to leave at 8...as we were on thai time we should have known better. 8am pick up an a mad dash to the pier!! We got on this disgusting thing they called a "speed boat". Mike an I say between a chair which had oil leaking from the roof on to the chair. There's a pic of it somewhere on the blog. It took us to phi phi where we had to change boats to get to Phuket. The forgot to mention they wouldn't be docking in phi phi pier for us to change boats...we stopped about a mile out of phi phi next to another boat which we were told to jump on to with our rucksacks. Ideal hey! The next boat was really choppy, an docked 40mins away from patong, again ideal. The bus was also a shed to top it off!
The hotel in Phuket was brilliant, it was huge! We stayed near patong beach an bangla road...best of both worlds! We spent the next day on the beach burning! Felt fine when we were there an then when we got home we were so burnt!!
Today we had to move hotel to the next street as they had no room for us! Never happened before but ah well! We moved back tomorrow for our final 2 nights in Phuket. The new hotel is beautiful! Really new an clean.
It's raining so we have just had a massage an been watching films today.
Jackie arrives tomorrow to carry on the final leg of our Thai journey! Everything's going too quickly!!
I'll update again before we reach Malaysia an put all the pics up then.
Love you all xxxxx
