Fern and Mike on Tour
Our trip to the outback!!
When we were booking our trip down the coast we decided to add a trip to the outback to mix it up a bit from the norm.
OMG it was brilliant!!
We left Airlie beach at 5:30 on the Saturday evening an got dropped in the middle of nowhere at 12:30am to wait for our next bus. We had to sit at the service station until 6.30am! We managed to get through through 6 episodes of NCIS, cup of coffee and chips an gravy! We got to a place called Biloela in the back an beyond an were picked up by Al the ranch owner. We met a guy called Joe who was doing the trip with us as well which was nice.
We got to the ranch an had some breakfast and the morning to relax, catch up on sleep an go the pool. After lunch we went horse riding and goat mustering! We had to shout Eymbaba at them to make them move into the pens. Imagine how made up I was getting to shout at goats an them shouting back!!
The horse I was on but the goats buns when they didn't move!! It was hilarious!! Mike loved it as well which was a shock! After this we went to the goat rodeo where we learnt how to lasso the goats! This is a lot harder then it looked. The goat I got was tiny an screamed when I had him, felt awful. We then went clay pigeon shooting. Mike got 3/5 an I didn't hit one!! They grow all there own food there too so we got to see the allotments.
We headed back for a much needed shower an dinner time! From here it got a bit weird! We did dancing, whip crack and the mechanical bull! We had all had a few beers so it was a laugh!
Next morning we went on a tour round the grounds on quad bikes. It was amazing to be on these huge off road quad bikes. We did 21kms all in all an stopped at points on the way for pics an to see the Kangaroos. We also stopped at "the beach" which I expected to be a beach. We got there an it was a big reservoir with a bit of sand by it! We all jumped in as it was scorching! We then found a dead bird inside!!!
When we got back to the ranch, we had a swim an some lunch. After lunch, a guy called Andy took some of us up into the fields to build a fence. Not part of the normal plan but it was really good an great to see how things actual work up there! We drove round in a van an collected wood to make it. After this we headed back to camp to check out an begin our trip out of there.
While we were there, they had some dogs around, manu, dog and puppy! Puppy was so Dosey! He just followed dog around! All the staff were lovely too, really welcoming and friendly.
We got the bus back from Bilo to the Rockhampton an had a 4hour wait for our overnight bus to Rainbow beach.
We arrived at 8am, shattered obviously!! We are heading off to Fraser Island tomorrow so have just had our safety briefing about what to take etc.
Love you all xxxx
