Fern and Mike on Tour
God I literally have so much to update on its unreal! Picking up from the Breifing!
At 2pm we met our group for the next 3days. Everyone was so lovely we were so lucky! We had a safety talk which lasted 2hours! Some chap who owns the camp site we were staying on came in sucked the life out of the trip! We called him the mood Hoover in the end! The talk was fine, just telling us we everything on the island will kill us, snakes, spiders, sharks, jelly fish and the cars/sand! Exactly what you want to hear 24hrs before you are going.
That night we met Joe for a few drinks but got an early night in preparation. We heard a horror story about an Irish guy who was locked up an had his license took off him the trip before because he was over the limit when driving.
Our first day heading to Fraser Island we were up at 6:30 to get sorted an check out an in! We had to pack the car up with all our bags etc an our food an drink in the trailer. This took so long considering there was only 12 groups! We set off round 10am after another safety talk!! Gina took the first part of the driving over to the island. Then we both got to drive for around an hour each which I was made up about. We went to lake Wobby first and got there round 1pm. The walk up there was a killer! 45mins up hill an the sand dune was horrific! Defiantly worth it when we arrived to the lake. It was beautiful, really cold but lovely! The weather wasn't the best but it was ok. There were huge catfish in the water so I wasn't in there for long!
That night we made our dinner, Asian spiced chicken and got down to drinking! I didn't drink though as I had first drive the next morning. It was such a funny night!! We played drinking games all night till well after 1! We had 2 groups together too which made it even better. In ring of fire someone made up a rule you had to say "in my pants" after everything you said so I'm sure you an imagine some of the stuff that was coming out! We also played Radio head, a game where you have to sing. Have to say, Mikes perfected his singing now! We climbed into the tent for bedtime an there was a HUGE spider!!! I nearly died! Mike had to get rid of it, needless to say I didn't sleep that night!
The second day in Fraser I got to drive for around 3hrs an it was amazing! We left camp round 9am to head to the shipwreck. This was a huge boat which a Scotish guy built for a Kiwi chap who then sold it to a Chinese guy then it got caught in a cyclone an washed up on the shores of Fraser (long story short). I then drove up to Lake Mckenzie. This was all off road an through the Forrest up an down sand hills. It was so much fun! I'd love to do it again!! Lake Mckenzie was my favourite place on the island. Crystal clear lake in the middle of no where with white sand. We got to see loads of dingos this day too.
After here we headed to Eli creek. This is a freshwater creek which you can tube down. We got in little rubber rings an floated down the river. It was freezing but felt amazing after how hot we were! That night in camp I had a few drinks as I wasn't driving the next day. We had steak an potatoes for dinner an the standard goon to wash it down with. We got to make a campfire as well! Yaaaaaay! After a few more drinks we headed down to the beach to look at the stars. A huge group of us went down for an hour or so. It was beautiful. No lights just star gazing. We finished the night off having a dance under the hut!
Our final day in Fraser Island was really busy. We we to the champagne pools and the Indian head. The champagne pools were totally different than the rest of the things we had seen. The rocks were razor sharp so we couldn't stand on them but we got close an managed to get some good pics with the waves crashing over them. The Indian head look out was lovely too. Views of the pools an the other side of the island. We headed back to the mainland after this. Mike got to drive again for about an hour as well so he was made up.
When we got back to Rainbow beach, we spent our evening doing washing, packing our bags an cooking! Ideal hey! We did get to go to the Sand Dunes an do some sand boarding which was brilliant! Have some videos I'll get up on Facebook at some point.
We are now in Noosa for 2days then moving again! Got here round 10am so we have the full day to explore!
Love you all xxxx
