Perth!
Well we hit Australia with a bump! We landed round 10am an headed into the terminal. We had heard from lots of people (an too much nothing to declare) that entering Australia is a military operation. If you don't declare stuff or have any type of dodgey look, your getting stopped, fined an even refused entry. As you can imagine my nerves where gone.
We had declared we had chocolate in our bags so we're ready to tear the rucksack apart for them to examine. After getting our passports stamped, Mike was stopped by some chap asking about what he was planning on doing here an if he had been before but that was it. We walked to the declaration section an were stamped through. We then collected our bags an head to the second declaration section. We were waved straight through! 15mins from getting to the terminal to getting in a taxi! Could not believe it!!
We had to wait for Daz to get home from work to let us into the house, so we finished watching game of thrones series. Alison an Dazs house is amazing!! Lovely open plan living room, huge bedrooms an bathrooms. They live with two girls from home, Emma and Roisin. Their lovely! Had a pretty chilled evening, everyone was shattered.
The next day we went into Perth centre. It's not massive, just the right size. Things aren't as expensive as I expected, I think because everyone was telling us its really really expensive I expected it to be like extortionate! It's all really relative to be fair. All 6 of us went out for dinner on the Tuesday night, it was amazing!
On Wednesday, we went out to Freemantle beach up the coast. Took us about 1hr to get there an we couldn't find the beach!! We had a walk round the town instead. It was actually really nice, quiet an really different than the centre.
Thursday an Friday we spent doing adminy type stuff, bank accounts, phones, tax etc so when we get to Sydney we should be all ok to get back to work....not quiet sure if that's a good or bad thing! Friday night we went out for Halloween, as you know I HATE Halloween. But to be honest it was a ball!! Everyone got dressed up an we managed to got through 5litres of wine or "goon" between 3 of us. Managed to meet up with a guy from work too, was good to see him.
For the past two days the lovely Paul an Becky have put us up. We arrived in Yatchep about 1 in the afternoon. It's a lovely place in the North of Perth. Their house was amazing!! Had a pool an everything! We had some lunch then all headed out to the beach. It's literally round the corner from their house as well. The water was baltic! Like really really cold but we all managed to hop in for 5 mins. We then went up to the national park. I finally got to see some wild kangaroos and koalas! We had a BBQ that night, our first Aussie BBQ, an a few drinks but we were ruined so went to bed pretty early.
Our final day In Perth was spent at a place called Hillarys. It's a harbour/marina about 30mins from Yatchep. Beautiful place with huge yachts in the harbour an a selection of shops an restaurants an a couple of play areas. Really nice area, they have a few outdoor BBQs too which were being used. Bec an I then went to view some show houses. Here they buy plots of land an then pick a builder to build it! They are amazing the houses, perfect to what you want.
We left for Cairns late evening on the Sunday. Flight from Perth to Melboune then Melboune to Cairns! Both flights were fine to be honest. Really comfy because we flew with Virgin. Long night but we arrived this afternoon around 12pm into the hostel.
We're now off to try an sort out our trip down the coast so Sydney! I'll update again soon.
Love you all xxxx
