Made it. The first thing I did after being collected from the airport by my friend Bret was to head to the mall to try to find a prepaid sim for the iPad to tether my phone to and use the net. This wasn't very successful and it looks like I need to get a monthly plan and then cancel it. Still faaaaaar cheaper than the Telstra data rates so that looks like the plan. I then got to try some foods that Bret and I had been talking about. Poutine (pictured) isn't quite what I imagined but I liked it. I also got
To try out a root beer (sarsaparilla) float. Was great. I we then got me checked into the hotel (genius me googled the wrong one so we went to the wrong best western but luckily I knew where the right one was). We then checked out some of 17th street which is a shopping strip. Had a cheeseburger at McDonalds (and used the wifi), went to an ice cream shop that has a piano so Bret played for ten minutes to get free ice cream. Orange and liquorice flavour! Wasn't too bad. I tried a maple icing doughnut with Boston cream for $1 at Tim Hortons. And then chicken strips in BBQ sauce with ranch dipping sauce from Denny's. Amazing. By the time I got to bed I worked out I'd been up for over 32 hours. Bit crazy but hopefully no Jetlag today
