European adventures 2017
We left Krakow to drive over the Tatra mountains and across the border into Slovakia. The scenery was alpine and pretty with lots of chalet-type homes and ski resorts dotted around. Saw the Orava Castle and old homes dating back to Roman times.
Lunch was at Donovaly, a big ski resort with 11 km of ski runs, about 900 - 1400 m elevation. The restaurant was a microbrewery and had a lot of memorabilia, including one of Angus Young's guitars. Wayne tried their brew but couldn't finish it (12% alcohol!) The schnitzels were nice and we were sitting outside enjoying the sunshine until a big black cloud opened up and started wetting us! This meant we couldn't explore the town or get any souvenirs from Slovakia.
