FARFRUMWURKEN
Yet another port-of-call today. We pulled into Freemantle's large harbour that was dredged out way back in the late 1800’s. One real benefit today was that the old ribs felt much better, albeit taped - so I have to assume it was just a bad bruise. I knew I was ready for another adventure.
Perth and Fremantle sit conveniently on the Swan River so we booked a tour that allowed us to explore the historic port of Fremantle as well as enjoy its sharp contrast with the modern city of Perth. Our first stop was at one of the local beaches in Fremantle, Cottesloe Beach and then it was off to King Landing Park in the heart of Perth that offered a great view high above the city.
Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. It’s the fourth-most populous city in Australia with an estimated population of 2.6 million people. It was originally founded by Captain James Stirling in 1829 as the administrative center of the Swan River colony.
Housing is ridiculously crazy here too. One property that we saw as we were on the boat cruise was less than 1 acre and the crazy rich Australian paid $20 million AU for it just this past summer and was building a large home overlooking Swan River. Our tour guide told us that for the property that she rents, she has to pay "weekly" and her rate is $700.00AU per week – Wow. Guess we’re staying in Canada.
Fremantle/Perth are two great cities with it’s old and new architecture – a clean, clean city with loads of green and lots of water and great beaches. It sure takes it’s place right up there with Brisbane and Hamilton Island. The weather today was just perfect today at about 74deg F, a long await break from the heat that we experienced up by the equator for the last couple of weeks. We’re here overnight so we can go back out to explore tonight as we’re not leaving until noonish tomorrow.
It’s Monday, November 7th just one day before the election in the U.S. but when we hear the results it’ll be Wednesday, November 9th in the early a.m. You can sense the uneasiness on board with only a day or two left to go. It’s one of fun things to do is to bring up the election during dinner which is normally at our large table of ten people. Because we have open dining, I get a different group of Americans each night to taunt – it get’s to be quite fun. I’m sure that when this is all over and Hillary gets the nod – they’ll forget about Donald like “grade three French”.
Next stop is Albany and a sea day to relax. Have a look at my pictures – unfortunately, my Nikon is toast. The mirror came loose from inside so it’s no longer working. Anything you see from now on will likely be my iPad Pro shots exclusively so I apologize now.

Tom Hi guys, We are home now from the Med and have real internet, but are down 2 computers so got some repairs to take care of. I shouldn't be "ribbing" you but how the heck did you hurt yourself on the ladder? Did a wave slam you? Sounds like it is time to select the "easy" or "less strenuous" excursions.
Liz Rosa Looking good!
