FARFRUMWURKEN
We arrived in Melbourne (pronounced Mel-Bun) today to sunny skies and 75 deg F weather. A great day, so I thought for our tour around town. We purchased our MYKI transport card for $14.00AU and headed to the bus to get into the CBD (Central Business District). As usual, as soon as I get to town, I start taking pictures - which unfortunately does not allow me to look at my feet all that often.
I jumped up on a ledge to take some shots and I didn't see some metal units that prevented skateboarders from sliding - so I went ass over tea kettle. I fell flat on my face, my teeth went through my upper lip and abrasions on my right arm and legs. My iPad Pro went flying along the sidewalk and ended up cracking the corner of the screen. All-in-all it could have been a lot worse, particularly if I had cracked or broke my teeth, but that's the good news. In any event, after the blood stopped in my mouth we headed out to the Hop-On/Hop-Off for our tour of the city. Renetta's also been down and out for the last three days. She's caught an upper respiratory infection that's had her limited to her cabin but she is on the mend we hope. No masks have been issued yet.
Melbourne is a big city of over 4.5 million people and it's a gorgeous city on the Yarra River. The streets are tree-lined everywhere and there's a rich heritage in some of the old buildings that the city executive rightly decided to preserve. Melbourne consists of 31 municipalities and their inhabitants are called Melburians. Founded in 1835 in what was then the colony of New South Wales.
Melbourne rates highly in education, entertainment, health care, research and development as well as tourism and sport making it the world's most liveable city for the sixth year in a row. Tomorrow's a sea day and then we will have completed our circumnavigation of Australia when we arrive at Circular Bay in Sydney. We're excited to have Ian & Wendy get on board Friday to start our tour of Tasmania and New Zealand.
Stay tuned, I hope the pictures will be amazing.

The Federales Give Deb the camera and then when she films you flying through the air at least you can make some money by submitting the video to AFV.
Ian Hair In Australia it's called "The Chuck Truck"
Ian Hair No, it's not Toronto. Those streetcars are trams.
Hickman Renetta4 The hop-on hop-off tour sounds fun and being on the top you can see lots. I hope Renetta gets better real soon.
Candice Yeah, afraid that accident proneness runs in the family, or I've often wondered if we've been cursed - the klutz curse. Caution, my dear cousin, caution and attentiveness. May you have smooth sailing here on out.
Bet Reed Renetta6 Dang! A word to the wise..."look before you leap". Hoping you and Renetta both heal quickly so you can get back to having fun and make it back home in one piece. Thanks for the updates!
Les and Irene Sorry to hear of your troubles, watch your step! Pics are good, envious of your dry weather, it's the rainy season here and I rush out on the land during dry spells. Moved your car to the lower field as Greg's trailer now occupies the gravel spot, haven't caught any mice under the hood yet! Watch out fo Bob ,Debra, he need all the eyes he can get. Have fun & TAKE CARE! Les.
