FARFRUMWURKEN
We arrived at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro on the
hotel shuttle. The boarding
process went pretty smoothly with the exception of a few line-ups but we were
on-board by 1:00 p.m. – just in time for lunch.
Other than getting acquainted with the ship our first couple
of days has been fairly quiet.
Yesterday afternoon I went to the Serenity section of the ship for a
swim in their lap pool and then for a steam and sauna – literally the best deal
on the boat – free.
We had our first formal night last night so everyone was
dressed in their finest. While I
realize that it's only the first couple of nights, the quality of the food in
our dining room has been quite good – last night my choices were Oysters on the
half shell, Shrimp Cocktail, French Onion Soup, Lamb with Mint Jelly and last
but not least a Fruit Soufflé. It’s
so nice to see Deb when she’s all dolled up, she hasn’t changed a bit from the
day I met her 20 years ago on the Monarch of the Seas. After dinner we decided to catch the
show.
The weather looks better today (Day 3) on our second "sea
day" so we’re in our cabin waiting for our breakfast room service – it’s just
easier that schlepping up to the dining room at 08:00 a.m. Deb and Jamie have their eyes on
the jewelry sale in the atrium for 10:00 ish, while I’m signing up for the
Texas Hold’em Tournament at 11:30.
We’re scheduled to arrive in Puerto Vallarta tomorrow
morning so it will be my first access to Wi-Fi since we left port. All of us have been here a few times so
there won’t be anything new I suspect – Tom and I are dying to get to some
small Internet shop so that we can get updated on our emails and such.
All is well here on the Sapphire Princess and looking
forward to some hot and sunny weather.
