Sunday, 25th April
A lovely lazy morning followed by Sunday beers and wine for me. Found an Irish bar with live music, so spent most of the evening in there.
Monday, 26th April
Had a really good day today, all up and on the road by 6am, we got to Phillip Island and found the track with time to spare. We got signed in and Tom got kitted out and got his bike. After a rules and safety talk Toms session started. Nick and I watched from pit lane then from the roof top where we could see most of the track. Tom was a bit nervous for the first lap then I could see the unmistakeable grin appear, lap after lap, session after session Tom got quicker and quicker. After the 3rd session Nick and I went for a drive around the Island. First stop was the Penguin Parade , we checked out the prices, they are 'expecting the penguins at around 6:15pm' sounde so strange so we left it that we'd see what we all felt like later. Next stop was the Nobbies, a coastal path where you can see 2 large pieces of rock, (what's left of the mainland). We saw a few penguins one of which was really grumpy and growled when we went near it. WE also saw a copper headed snake , a first. Flynns beach was nice then headed to Newhaven and saw lots of pellicans hanging around a guy gutting a fish, they all went crazy when he through them the head. Back to the track to catch Toms last few laps, the guy had been out taking professional photos so we got 3. Toms last few laps were so quick, best lap time of 2:02 mins. All tired and with a very excited Tom headed home.
