After a 4-5 hour wait by the road we were picked up by another bus and dropped at La Serena(1/3 of the way to San Pedro), where we were all given a refund and told to find our own way to San Pedro. We caught a bus an hour later to Calama which is 2 hours North of San Pedro so heading in the right direction. Tom found a hotel once we arrived at 7:30pm and both shattered so staying here tonight. We could only find 1 bar that you can smoke in and as we walked in realised it might be slightly dodgey. Firstly they lock you in and I was the only girl in there except for the scantily clad bar staff, but the locals were all really friendly and bought us a drink so all was well

Ok the bar we went to last night we only realised when we walked past it this morning is bright pink and called Loly Schop, that explains a lot. The journey out to San Pedro led us through the desert, there was literally nothing but rock and sand for and hour and a half. Found a really cute place to stay and had supper at an outdoor restaurant with a huge fire in the centre, treated ourselves to maybe one too many Pisco Sours and a lovely meal. Perfect evening.

Start of the World Cup, watched a couple of games and had a wonder around the town most of which is made up of single storey mud huts, fells like we're in an old film set. Followed the Robin Hood lookylikeys recommendation and went to a set menu restaurant, great little place, like a cave and lovely salmon/steak another great evening.

We booked our trip to Bolivia for tomorrow over 2 nights and 3 days, leaving early in the morning. Watched England draw a miserable 1-1 with USA not a great start to the games.
