So we had 3 nights overlooking the rugged coastline near Lizard point, we really enjoyed a cliff top walk from the campsite where we could look back with the monocular and see our tent!
The next day we drove to Lizard and did a long cliff top walk out to Lizard point (the most southerly part of the UK) and round in a big loop. The actual point was far nicer than Lands End, not as touristy and a really modern cafe to grab a coffee in. The walk was great, we had some sunshine but we aren't having the heatwave that everyone else seems to be having - mind you we don't want it too hot in the tent, the milk goes mouldy every other day as it is!
Today we packed up, we have a hotel room tonight in Falmouth as we only wanted one day here and it wasn't worth putting the tent up - plus it's nice to have our own bathroom, a proper bed and a tv for a change!
As we drove here, we passed RAF Culdrose and they had 2 fighter planes up which were zooming around, landing then taking straight back off so we stopped at the car park to watch. We were just leaving when there was a big bang as a woman had driven into the car park with a bike on the roof and she'd forgotten and hit the overhead sign - her face when it happened!!
Luckily it didn't pull the bike off but the rack was pretty damaged so James took the bike off the roof so she could drive back out, and then put it back on for her, she was very grateful but we were all laughing about the whole thing.
Today we have had a little look around Falmouth and then we took the river ferry to Truro where we went to the Shelter Box centre. If you don't know, shelter boxes are sent out to places which have been hit by a disaster ie after a hurricane and the box is full with everything a family need to get going again - either a tent or tools / tarpaulin to build a shelter, cooking pots, plates. blankets, solar panel light, etc. The place was so interesting for the work which they do and how they decide what to send, they have a summer weight tent and also a cold weather one which was fully lined with a quilting and also had a cooking stove and chimney.
We also had a look at the cathedral, which was bigger than we expected and we are now enjoying sitting on a bed and watching tv!
