The Outer Hebrides, lie 60 miles off the North West coast of Scotland. We spent a week travelling from south to North by walking, cycling, bussing and ferries. Faantastic place with very few tourists. Sunset was around 11.00pm each night and it would never be truly dark. White sand beaches and azire blue waters dot these islands. Heading out onto the surropunding sea we passed within feet of massive basking sharks and colonies f sea lions. All wonderful stuff. Anni loved it so much she returned here on her own in September of the same year and I am sure we will both go back sometime soon.
If you are into wild, bleak places and natural beauty as well as friendly folk, then these islands are highly recommended. Just get out of Stornoway, a truly bleak city and the only one on these islands.
