Anni took me away as a delayed birthday to Dartmoor for a few days. We struck it lucky and seemed to have landed the only fine weekend so far of 2009 and so managed to get in some good walks and even a run. More importantly was the local pub. We have been back home for a week now. Unfortunately we have both been living at opposite ends of our apartment, so as not to infect / re-infect eachother as we have both been hit with something nasty. Scotland was fantastic. It was wet, windy and sunny all in the same day on every day, much as you would expect, but we got some spectacular sunsets (well, two of them) and just loved being outdoors in it all the same. We took a 9-hour train from London to Inverness on the Saturday that was actually really nice. We lived here for a few months (Feb - May 2008) after returning from our South America Foray (see www.offexploring.com/worldcitizenkiwi). Postern Park Stable was superb. Set in the middle of a massive orchard and ten minutes from Tonbridge station, we enjoyed our brief time in this place, before moving on to Tilburstow Hill, Godstone. The country life here is lovely.

The Outer Hebrides, lie 60 miles off the North West coast of Scotland. We spent a week travelling from south to North by walking, cycling, bussing and ferries. Faantastic place with very few tourists. Sunset was around 11.00pm each night and it would never be truly dark. White sand beaches and azire blue waters dot these islands.
