Think we're finally un-winding and settling into a non-work routine! Lazy start to morning then off to the Minster for a close up viewing after a quick detour to a camera shop to get a data cable so we can upload the photos (since we left ours behind).
York Minster had very kindly put on choir practice, so we got to appreciate the full beauty of the building accompanied by appropriate ambience rather than just gabling tourists. Tom seemed to be a bit awestruck by the size of the place. This time we'd also bought tickets to the crypt and (foolishly) the Tower walk. The crypt was fascinating as it not only showed the restoration work that's been undertaken to keep the whole place upright but also the earlier foundations of both Norman and Roman buildings that had been built over.
After a walk though the Treasury (does this count as work John?) to see all of that ecclesiastical silverware, it was up the Tower - just a little climb of 275 steep stairs to a rooftop view over York - and back down again. Our calves will never be the same again.
A quick lunch back at the flat then it was off to the National Railway Museum for the afternoon. Very popular place judging by the crowds - and not just annoracks either. They had everything from a Japanese bullet train to the famous Mallard and original Royal trains and carriages - oh how the other half lives!
Back to the flat for a quick zzzzz then to the supermarket to get bits for tea.
