Off at last. We had a good run down to Belford where we stayed overnight. There was an issue with the toilet leaking which was quite a worry! At one stage, we were contemplating missing the ferry and getting it fixed in Newcastle or the more daunting prospect of finding somewhere in Germany. However, superman handyman Pete came to the rescue and all was well. He thinks one of the many potholes on our journey down dislodged a part of it.
Sunny the next day and we spent a few hours browsing the quayside shops before boarding the ferry. Pete did very well with that as they told him to turn the side mirrors in and then guided him into a spot between two huge transport lorries bound for Poland. We were dwarfed!
Our crossing was smooth and we slept well, having enjoyed a buffet dinner the night before, which was good, but not as good as we remembered from before. After a false start down the wrong stairwell, we found the camper again and we were no sooner seated than we found ourselves driving off. The sat nav needed a bit of coaxing to get going and after a few circuits of the docks, a map and some common sense, we were off. Mr Sat Nav decided to catch up a while later.
