We Got The Bonus Point

Was the chant at the end of the game against Romania in Invercargill but, believe me, most of us were just happy to get away with the win. My first experience of a Rugby World Cup game and it was not very enjoyable. People say that Scotland is the "sick man of Europe" and that it's all to do with deep fried Mars Bars and the amount of lager and whisky we all drink. Rubbish, it's all to do with supporting our nations sports teams that makes us die young. Football team concedes a last minute penalty, rugby team needs two late tries to see off Romania. Yeah, we're all gonna be dead by 50.

What an experience though, the local Starbucks (which is the most Southern Starbucks in the World) informs me that we're about 18,600kms from Aberdeen here in Invercargill, thats a bloody long way. Invercargill has been like a mini-Scotland for the last few days though, thousands of us have turned up in the bars and the one that we ended up in last night had started to run out of beer. Local folk have been so friendly though, even though most of them seemed to be supporting Romania at the game yesterday.

Great day was had watching the rest of the games in the boozer and about to head out to watch some more today. Looking forward (I think) to the Georgia game on Wednesday although if it's anything like yesterday you can shave another couple of years off of everyone's life expectancy who has made it over here.
