Finally, not 4 more years.
Yes so the All Blacks finally managed to exorcise their World Cup Ghosts by beating the French 8-7 in the Final. I must confess to having been wanting the French to win during the final, partly because they were the better side and partly because it would've just been funny had the Kiwi's bottled it again. However, they got across the line and this caused some pretty awesome scenes in Auckland on Sunday night and Monday. Lapped up the fireworks in the city on Sunday night and the crowd of people on Queen St was just unreal. Watched Man U v Man C when I got back to the hostel as well, lol at Man U.
Monday was a pretty good day as well, the All Blacks came up Queen St on the back of Pick-up trucks, 2 0r 3 to a truck. It was a really sunny day and I've ended up with some pretty sweet pictures, some of which are up on facebook already.
Started the Kiwi Experience bus tour now, Day 1 Auckland to Hot Water Beach, where you dig holes in the sand to make your own little hot tub on the beach, no idea how it works but somehow there is Hot Water just underneath the surface of the sand. Was a lovely night again so most of the folk on the bus sat on the decking and had a few beers, really nice chilled out evening. The fish and chips at the hostel was pretty awesome as well.
Then it was on to Waitomo which was ok, I opted not to do the activity of going down into the caves and floating around on some tubes, speaking to the folk that did it, it sounded pretty awesome but you can't do every activity, well you could, but it would pretty much bankrupt you.
Today we came on to Rotorua, which stinks. Its a centre of geothermal activity, as you can see from the photo, so there is a very strong smell of sulphur in the air, not too pleasant at all. The hostel has a pretty sweet swimming pool which is well heated so have spent a wee bit of time in there. That was only after coming back from zorbing though. Zorbing is awesome, everyone should do it. The genius is in the simplicity. Roll down a hill, inside a big inflatable ball with some water in it. Come out soaked and happier than a 4 yr old on Christmas day. I challenge anyone to do it and not enjoy it and I just spent the whole time laughing on the way down, great fun. So glad I did it. You can go street luging here as well but there wasn't really time to do both, however, I plan to come back to Rotorua later on in the trip to do that.
Dons v Huns tomorrow night our time I believe, will be in Taupo by then, COYR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Take care all
