BACK IN THE DEEP SOUTH
Ok so I'm not quite as far south as Invercargill yet (and I wont be again) but we're back on the South Island of NZ again. Have been travelling with the Kiwi Experience bus for the last wee while and we got the ferry over from the North Island yesterday morning. Spent the night in Kaiteriteri, but I'll again go back to doing things in Chronological order.
Watched the last 20 minutes of the Dandies v Huns game online, Naismith, or Nae Knee, is a sma hun. As for what Fallon got sent off for, I dont know. Watched the end of the Chelsea v Arsenal game as well, massive lols at John Terry falling over. That meant a pretty late night in Taupo and spent my second day there just relaxing by the lake and having a go at the golf challenge. http://www.holein1.co.nz/ for anyone that wants to check the link. Basically, you have to try and hit balls into a hole on a floating pontoon in the middle of the lake. Its about 110 yards and I had 18 balls, every time you hit the pontoon but didn't get it in any of the holes you got a free go. I reckon I probably hit the pontoon a dozen times but nothing in the hole, it was about a 3/4 P Wedge. Some good efforts I thought. Entered a pub quiz on the Sunday night as well but that didn't go too well, I'm blaming the team.
From Taupo it was down to River Valley on Monday. River Valley is truly in the middle of nowhere, at the end of a long track and there is just nothing down there apart from the River and the lodge. As it was Halloween, it was a fancy dress party. I dressed up as a Ned. Trackie Bottome with the white socks over the top and of course, THE HAT. Very good party and we played a nice wee trick on Ze Germans on our bus. They went for a walk on the other side of the river and tied the rope bridge on the same side that they were on. So we sent two guys swimming across the river to retrieve the bridge and tie it on our side. Ze Germans had to swim back across themselves. Serves them right.
With a fairly decent hangover it was on to Wellington on Tuesday and with an early start for the boat on Wednesday morning and having spent so much time there when the rugby was on I had a very uneventful and early night.
Ferry and then bus to Kaiteriteri where again we've just chilled. Its a lovely morning so away to sit in the Sunshiiiiine for a bit before we depart for Westport tonight and then on to the Poo Pub for another fancy dress party on Friday. It should be a pretty sweet place to spend my birthday and it was a huge laugh the last time I was there, really looking forward to it.
Anyway, away to do that sunbathing, take care everyone.
