So for the past few days after Lombok we have been busy exploring the southern beaches of Bali, before heading off to explore more beaches in Fiji.
We travelled from Sengiggi in Lombok, back to Bali via boat. Once we arrived back in Padang Bai, we got on a bus and headed back to Kuta. Once in Kuta we had a quick snack and a drink before once again getting a local taxi and going towards uluwatu. Once we arrived near uluwatu beach we searched for some accomodation. We were very lucky and found a very nice homestay for only 300 thousand rupiahs per night which is only £15 for the 2 of us. We arrived here on the Sunday night , and lucky for us there was a big party/ night at the single fin, just down the road from us. We spent the evening there and met quite a few Australian surfers along the way. Uluwatu beach is famous for its surf break and people come from all across the world to surf in this special spot.
Our second day in uluwatu was spent sat in a cafe overlooking the beautifully clear water, and watching the surfers. Later on in the day we went to explore the famous uluwatu temple which looks over the Indian Ocean and is perched on the end of a cliff. There are many monkeys that inhabit this area too, and you have to be very careful of your belongings, as they are known to snatch away sunglasses , cameras and phones! We stayed to watch the sunset and the famous Kekak dance , which was again telling the story of Rama and Sita . This dance was accompanied by a unique male choir as an alternative to a musical orchestra we had seen before. We had dinner at the single fin in the evening, before heading back to our room. We played cards with the French guys in the room next to us before bed.
On the next day we decided to explore padang padang beach - as seen in our picture . This was a beautiful beach with some surfers trying out the waves too. In the afternoon / early evening we got a taxi to Jimbaran , which is a famous area for its fresh seafood. We had dinner on the beach in one of the many seafood warungs. The view was amazing.
For our final day in Bali we explored 2 markets at Jimbaran. The morning market which is in the centre of town , as well as the renowned fish market , which had all types of fish for sale. It even had some reef sharks for sale.
We had a quick lunch on the beach before heading back to our homestay in Jimboran ( which was an actual room in someone's home!) to finish packing before heading to the airport! Next stop Fiji ! :)
