We bid our farewells to Wainwright Inn and Marija who has thoroughly spoiled us over the last 4 days with her delicious breakfasts and super comfy accommodation. It is another lovely day as we travel south & east into Connecticut & Rhode Island. Along the way we stop at Deep River and for the first time we find a roadside rotunda erected by Rotary in a very pretty setting specifically for the use by visitors. The trees in the park here are the most glorious red and encourage us to take more photos. After lunch we continue on until we reach Mystic, Connecticut the home of the tall ships and which exudes New England charm. We cross into the tiny state of Rhode Island and hug the coast road as we make our way to Providence where we are staying at our first airbnb reservation for 4 nights. The apartment isn't in a salubrious area at all and the entrance looks pretty dodgy due to current renovations taking place. But once inside our petite 2 bedroom self-containted apartment, we are delighted with the modernity and comfort of it. Amazing value at $75 per night+ cleaning fee of $60. About 100 metres away from our apartment is the Red Bridge Tavern (how convenient is that!) and it is there that we go for drinks and dinner. Brad finds yet another beer he likes and the fish & chips dinner is cheap and good. Tomorrow we plan to explore the famous Newport if the weather is kind to us.
